A project that seeks to encourage a regular moment of mindfulness, via a familiar and popular activity, that of making coffee at home. In this case, each component from the collection of products has been designed specifically to arrest a particular perception sense.

A ritual for one or two is thus set out, a multisensorial journey that encourages deliberate intent, and rewards slow manual engagement.

No extraneous technology or distracting lights, buttons or screens. A process reduced to its essential elements with a set of simple yet sophisticated tools. The disassembly and assembly, define the beginning and the end, the contrasting materials, textures and forms create evolving sculptural totems.

To be displayed as a centrepiece, or talking point on the kitchen counter or sideboard. A presence and gentle reminder to put time aside; to listen, to touch, to move, to look, to smell, and to taste...

The Water Horn is designed to amplify the sound of the water boiling, providing a soundtrack or score to the ritual, by engaging the sense of hearing.

Each component is expressed separately whilst forming a whole, the functions presented in easily readable forms to create a unique aesthetic.

An instrumental part of the coffee making process, is brought to life as more than just an ancillary and often overlooked element. The weight of the filled Water Horn activates the induction base by way of a sensor, removing the requirement for a switch or button, clean, simple, intuitive.

Extensive model making ensured the products that make up the collection were easy to use, the ergonomics and proportions explored initially in card, then foam and finally in wood and metal.
